I must admit that I have been focusing on getting this ticket done, at
the price of looking at the details of your ticket right now ... So
thanks much for your pointers; that's helpful!
In this specific case, it turns out that it's really the logic that
had to be fixed, and I won't need `is_trivially_zero`.
