 IIRC, how I got around the subalgebra lifting was calling it
 `lift_ambient`. Perhaps what we should do is have it take an optional
 argument which calls the respective coercion and has some default. Maybe
 ask Nicolas?

 You're right, but it's the one consisting of `{0}`. However this is not
 the empty set like the set of `0x0` matrices the corner cases construct.

 I'm getting on my flight now. Talk to you when I'm back in California.
