If you want, in this ticket we can finalize the implementation of this
gadget of yours, only it will not be the default. If so, what about the
list of things that are automatically plotted "when the flag is enabled"?
The mechanism of `DiplayPreferences` for ech backend isn't bad really.
Even though I am not a big fan of automatic pictures either.
