 This is not a mistake.  The `except` statement appears in
 `set_linear_system`.  I have deprecated some methods that use
 `_set_linear_system`.  If someone still wants to use those methods and
 hasn't installed 4ti2, I guess they should be told what the problem is.
 In a year, when the deprecated methods are removed, I will also remove
 `_set_linear_system`.
