Comment(by drkirkby):

 I've created a new .spkg file,

 http://sage.math.washington.edu/home/kirkby/Solaris-
 fixes/lcalc-20080205.p3/lcalc-20080205.p3.spkg

 which removes this flag, designed to suppress warnings. I've also added
 the compiler option -Wall, to show all warnings, if the compilers are gcc.
 There are other improvements to the spkg-install file too.

 A makefile was updated too, as CFLAGS was used in the makefile, even
 though no C compiler (only C++) compiler was used. The CXXFLAGS are now
 set properly, and those used for compiler the C++ code.

 This allows lcalc to build on Solaris, even if the assembler used is Suns.
 Without this, lcalc will fail if the Sun assembler is used.

 See

 fixes/lcalc-20080205.p3/
 for all files,
