New description:

We use pexpect version 2.0. Shouldn't we upgrade to the current version
 4.0.1?

The present ticket is set to upgrade to

https://github.com/pexpect/pexpect/commit/40ce421051c0a54f3b3849424491882cf1339801
which close to master (and beyond 4.0.1) at the time of writing.

This may be related with the performance problem reported at #10294.

 See also #502.

Comment (by fbissey):

OK this is to update/test on top of the superfluous-sleep branch of
pexpect - this 4.0.1+ hence the `_p1` bit. We may move to an upstream
release including this if all goes well.

The upgrade needs to be matched with a `sagenb` upgrade including matching
fixes for the notebook. Sorry to have been this long in preparing this.
