 In actual calculations, the main bottleneck is the simplification of
 symbolic expressions, which is performed in Lisp by Maxima. So I don't
 think that cythonizing would improve much here. On the other hand,
 parallelization over the components of vector fields (and more generally
 tensorial objects), as performed in #18100, helps a lot.
