sage: An error occurred while installing mpfr-2.4.1.p0
 Please email sage-devel http://groups.google.com/group/sage-devel
explaining the problem and send the relevant part of
 of /home/wstein/screen/varro/build/sage-4.1.2.rc1.alpha1/install.log.
Describe your computer, operating system, etc.
If you want to try to fix the problem yourself, *don't* just cd to
 /home/wstein/screen/varro/build/sage-4.1.2.rc1.alpha1/spkg/build/mpfr-2.4.1.p0
 and type 'make'.
 Instead type "/home/wstein/screen/varro/build/sage-4.1.2.rc1.alpha1/sage
 -sh"
in order to set all environment variables correctly, then cd to
 /home/wstein/screen/varro/build/sage-4.1.2.rc1.alpha1/spkg/build/mpfr-2.4.1.p0
(When you are done debugging, you can type "exit" to leave the
 subshell.)

Note that the above error occurs after mpfr successfully builds during
building of the test suite. Possible fixes:

   * do not run spkg-check on OS X 10.4 (then the build continues fine...
for a while -- i only watched a few minutes)

   * fix the source of the problem (probably a compiler bug on OS X, so
 impossible)

   * deprecate support for OS X 10.4.

I like the first option above.
