Look at the ticket description. The goal is to fix those errors. If that
means to remove the usage of `cmp` in those parts of Sage, then please say
so. I'm not a Python guy and am not in the know what `cmp` is supposed to
do. I want to fix those pesky errors that block the new piecewise
functions for years now.
