Bill Allombert is wondering what use case(s) we have in mind for the
Frobenius matrix (rather than just its characteristic polynomial). Keep in
mind that they don't (currently) provide Coleman integration, which rules
out the Coleman-Gross height pairing. But I think the p-adic sigma
function on an elliptic curve does constitute an example where the
Frobenius matrix is strictly more useful than its charpoly.
