Comment(by jason):
My understanding was that we were making a rather thin wrapper around the
already-existing legends functionality in matplotlib, rather than trying
to come up with our own implementation. If we can write a better
implementation, then great! However, it's an easy first step to write a
wrapper around matplotlib's implementation. Here are some examples of
matplotlib's legends:
*
http://matplotlib.sourceforge.net/examples/pylab_examples/dannys_example.html
*
http://matplotlib.sourceforge.net/examples/pylab_examples/figlegend_demo.html
*
http://matplotlib.sourceforge.net/examples/pylab_examples/findobj_demo.html
*
http://matplotlib.sourceforge.net/examples/pylab_examples/legend_auto.html
*
http://matplotlib.sourceforge.net/examples/pylab_examples/legend_demo3.html
As for a shortcut, I think it would be consistent to make it an option to
show, like {{{(a+b+...+g).show(legends=True)}}}.
