There is a very clear difference between new and old "unique keys" (which
are used for pickling): New keys are pairs, old keys are longer tuples. I
guess it is robuster to discriminate by the length of the key rather than
by version number.
I am now running {{{sage -testall}}} and (if it works) will provide
another patch later.
