I'm working on reviewing this and noticed that much of the part2 and part3
patches is simply removing tabs and doing minor whitespace fixups. The
three main patches leave some tabs in the relevant files, so I fixed that
up. Hooray for emacs' untabify.
attachment:trac_3852_fix_whitespace.patch is big but makes no functional
changes.
