Since there you can cover any given space always with more patches I'm a
bit hesitant; The notation `Toric variety of dimension 2 with 4 affine
patches` only makes sense once you translate it back into toric geometry.
But plain English is definitely preferable.
I agree that the base field shouldn't be printed. Usually, it is going to
be the same for all varieties the user constructs, so it is not a
differentiating feature.
