Moved cones to #9380. Patches remaining relevant to this ticket:
* trac_8988_add_support_for_toric_varieties.patch (same as before, except
that `kaehler_cone` is gone)
* trac_8988_doctest_fix_for_symbolic_random_tests.patch
Any issues you still see with these two?
