No, it was a freshly built Sage, and I just tested again: Even when I
removed SAGE_ROOT/spkg/optional/p_group*, still
{{{install_package('p_group_cohomology')}}} lead to the old version.
Indeed, {{{./sage -optional}}} yields p_group_cohomology-1.2.p0
