I would still prefer to use the extended instruction set on capable
PowerPCs (cf. [http://trac.sagemath.org/sage_trac/ticket/5847#comment:27
this comment above]), regardless if the operating system's ABI is 32 bit
or not. (And the `configure` file in `patches/` is huge, as usual, though
not under revision control.)
