stracing the maxima startup shows that it thrashes around quite a lot in
the `$SAGE_LOCAL/share/maxima/5.22.1/` directory tree.

Okay, but you'd still have to address the issue in Comment 52. The best
option there is finding similar doctests that don't have different orders,
since #9880 isn't necessarily going to be merged in the immediate future
(see above).
