-1 to this idea, since OS X 10.4 has bash version 2.
The question I posed in the ticket remains: why should there be two cases
(the second case should work always, no matter the bash version).
By the way: fixing `eval "$1 | $2"` is easy: `eval "$1" | eval "$2"`.
