I've attached a cleanup patch, addressing most of Leif's comments. See
10187-cleanup.patch
I decided not to restrict the MAKEFLAGS to only OS X, since we don't know
for sure it's not needed on other systems, and I don't want to take a
chance.
There appears to be no option to specify the location of the garbidge
collector - only whether it is a system one or not. This differs from gmp,
where you can specify the location too.
The package has been updated. MD5 hecksum =
