By the way, the best way to do solve these tickets is probably to write a
cython "matrix_from_list_of_iterables" command and call that from the
vector initialization, but I don't know if that would be worth it since
most methods done on matrices will still be way slower than initializing
them. I.e. this patch makes sure that initializing is no longer the bottle
neck.
