I had some `sig_on` without corresponding `sig_off`'s when exceptions were
raised, the updated patch fixes that. Now everything plays nicely with
Jeroen' sigon/off debugging patch at #10030.
Marshall, considering that it now builds on t2, how about a positive
review? ;-)
