 I am not so sure that we should invest a lot of time in libGAP based on
 the current GAP 4.4.12, as GAP 4.5 is almost ready,
 (as a GAP package developer, I'm expecting to get it pretty soon) and has
 a lot of internals reworked. I understand that the GC is replaced by the
 Bohm's GC, and the arbitrary precision arithmetic is done by GMP, not by
 the internal GAP code (I suggested that they should try MPIR instead of
 GMP).
