 OK, for those interested I have a new drop-in spkg based on the
 released 4.7.1.alpha1. This spkg includes the patches from this ticket as
 well as the patches from tickets #11244, #11373, #11376 and #11377 . I'm
 presently building Sage to make sure everything is as it should be. If
 successful, I'll post links to the drop-in spkg later today.
