In my first patch, I had introduced the test

sage: SteenrodAlgebra(2)['x'].category()
Category of algebras over mod 2 Steenrod algebra

It was supposed to be a test for a polynomial ring over a non-commutative
ring. But by your patch from #10052, the `__getitem__` method of a
Steenrod algebra got a different meaning.
I think the easiest solution (and probably the best solution as well would
be to replace that test by a polynomial ring over a different non-
commutative algebra, perhaps a matrix algebra.
