The version MPL reports for freetype2 clearly comes from Sage's `.pc`
file, since my system one refers to a different one; also
`PKG_CONFIG_PATH` is "properly" set to (just) Sage's `pkg-config`
directory.
Is `PKG_CONFIG_PATH` set on sage.math outside the Sage environment? (We
only set it to Sage's if it is empty, i.e. don't prepend Sage's in case it
is already set.)
