The remaining slowness seems to be related with the initialisation of
multivariate polynomial rings (implemented in libsingular). As for
matrices, it seems to be a problem that #9138 constructs the coercion from
the base ring during initialisation, and not when it is first requested.
The difference between matrix spaces and libsingular polynomial rings is
that the latter does not use the new coercion model yet. I'll try to fix
that, and hope that it will reduce the regression.
