 Running the `L = EllipticCurve('960d1').prove_BSD()` example with %prun, I
 find that a considerable amount of time is spent for calling cached
 functions. That is not the case with sage-4.7.2.alpha2 plus #11342. I
 guess that comes from the caching for the `join()` method in my first
 patch.

 I see two ways to proceed: Test whether #11115 turns the increased use of
 cached function into an advantage. Or try to find out what cached function
 is actually called, and from where, and reduce it.
