Sorry for the delay. I had other stuff applied on top of mpc (twisted,
jmol, flask) and it wasn't convenient to remove things. I didn't think it
was the patches, but perhaps the mpc spkg. A build of just 5.0.beta5 with
nothing else still produces the failure. So that belongs somewhere, but
not this ticket.
