Comment(by SimonKing):
I could imagine that my error report was a bit confusing, since it was in
fact two different reports.
The first, resulting in
[http://boxen.math.washington.edu/home/SimonKing/SAGE/gcclogs/gccspkg_native.log
this install log], is with the unmodified spkg, and gfan fails to build
because something can not be found where it is supposed to.
The second was with a modified spkg, in the attempt to fix the previous
error by defining `--libdir`, but failed as in
[http://boxen.math.washington.edu/home/SimonKing/SAGE/install_logs/gcc-
build-config.log config.log] or
[http://boxen.math.washington.edu/home/SimonKing/SAGE/install_logs/gcc-4.6.3.log
gcc-4.6.3.log]
However, it seems that the second problem is actually not related with
--libdir: Following Jeroen's advice, I did `./install base` in
`SAGE_ROOT/spkg`. But apparently that has not been sufficient. Now, just
for fun, I did `make` and interrupted after a few seconds -- and when I
then tried to install the modified gcc spkg (with --libdir), then the
configuration worked.
Strange. So, what was missing in addition to `./install base`?
