For heavens' sake, go and read the Sage reference manual -- there's a
whole huge tutorial on how to implement coercions properly.

First, I consider this strongly unfriendly.
Second, after looking again at the coercion section of the reference
manual, I still don't see what is so disastrously wrong (which obviously
doesn't mean that it is not wrong), and how to tell a parent to register
coercion from an infinite family of other parents.
