Apparently openssl is installed (namely, the headers are in
$SAGE_ROOT/local/include), but `pkg-config openssl` returns nothing.
pkg-config will return nothing unless you ask it to print out.
And I am surprised that it is not present in OSX. According to its
[http://www.freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/pkg-config/ homepage] it runs on
all *nix systems.
