Comment:

 I just ran into the error reported by JoalHeagney while going through some
 Sage demo worksheets from past talks. This bug must have been introduced
 sometime after the talk was given because I remember solving symbolic
 matrix equations just fine. It would be great if this got doctested and
 into Sage ASAP.
