 Thanks.  I did what I said (built the new spkg with sage -f, then sage -b
 to rebuild which did trigger a lot of compilations, then applied the
 patch).  The touched files test OK, and I'm now testing everything (i.e.
 sage -t -long).

 The last thing I would want to do is anger the release manager (even if
 only slightly)!

 The Sage patch looks fine, and also the spkg patching (assuming that Karim
 has fixed this properly, which seems likely).
