StockWatch (Jakarta) - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati has abolished
customs on imported raw materials for manufacturing of automotive components,
the Finance Ministry's head of public relations bureau, Samsuar Said, said.

Said said in an announcement today (23/4) in Jakarta, the measure is taken
through the Finance Minister Decree No 34/PMK.011/2007 dated April 3, 2007,
which will become effective within 30 days after the date of the stipulation.

He said further that the new policy has been made in an effort to develop and
enhance the growth of the domestic automotive component industry.

A company requesting for the customs abolishment should file the request at the
Director-General for Customs and Excise, by attaching the tax payer number, the
copies of license from the ministry/institution concerned, the specification,
the price and the verification of the surveyor appointed by the government.

Then, the Director-General for Customs and Excise on behalf of the Finance
Minister will issue a decree on such abolishment which is enclosed with the
list of goods that are set free from such import customs and the list of
unloading ports.

The goods that are not imposed with such customs must be used only by the
industry concerned, and any violation of such regulation could lead to the
cancellation of the facility and requirement to pay the customs added with an
administrative sanction in form of 100% fine. (Herman Susanto/bud)
