Indonesia July CPI up 0.72 pct from June, up 6.06 pct year-on-year

JAKARTA (Thomson Financial) - The consumer price index in July was up 0. 72
percent from June and up 6.06 percent from a year before, driven up by higher
education costs and higher prices for fresh food, Central Bureau of Statistics
chairman Rusman Heriawan said.

"July inflation was higher than the previous month's but this is a normal cycle
in the year," Heriawan told reporters.

He said the cost of education, sports and recreation was 2.89 percent higher in
July than in June because of the start of new school year.

Prices of fresh food rose 1.35 percent in July.

Prices of processed food, beverages and tobacco rose 0.4 percent, the cost of
housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuel rose 0.32 percent, prices of
clothing rose 0.61 percent and the cost of health care rose 0.35 percent.
