Indonesia June trade surplus 3.49 bln usd vs 3.22 bln usd in May

JAKARTA (Thomson Financial) - Indonesia's trade surplus rose to 3.49 billion US
dollars in June from 3.22 billion in May as a sequential fall in imports
outpaced a modest decline in exports, Central Bureau of Statistics chairman
Rusman Heriawan said Wednesday.

He said exports in June declined 2.98 percent month-on-month to 9.42 billion US
dollars while imports fell 8.57 percent to 5.93 billion US dollars.

In May, Indonesian exports totaled 9.71 billion US dollars while imports came
in at 6.49 billion dollars.

"Although exports and imports fell in June, they were up significantly in the
first half after gains in the previous five months," Heriawan told a press
briefing.

Exports in the half rose 14.29 percent year-on-year to 53.62 billion US dollars
while imports grew 16.34 percent to 33.66 billion US dollars.
