Pertamina Increases August Fuel Prices for Miners, Factories

Aug. 1 (Bloomberg) -- PT Pertamina, Indonesia's state oil company, increased
prices of oil-based fuels sold to factories and mining companies by as much as
7.6 percent this month.
The price of fuel oil rose to 4,250 rupiah (46 cents) a liter from 3,950
rupiah in July, Pertamina said in an e-mailed statement late yesterday. The
company increased the price of kerosene by 5.6 percent to 6,257 rupiah a liter.
Indonesia imports a third of its oil product requirements because the
country's daily refining capacity isn't sufficient to meet demand. Pertamina
uses average prices in Singapore, assessed by oil-pricing service Platts,
between the 15th day of two consecutive months as the benchmark to determine
fuel prices for industrial users the following month.
Prices of diesel for transportation purposes climbed 5.6 percent to 6,469
rupiah a liter, including a vehicle tax, and to 6,188 rupiah a liter for
manufacturers.
Pertamina priced marine diesel at 5,992 rupiah a liter compared with 5,677
rupiah in July. The company raised the cost of gasoline by 2.7 percent to 6,347
rupiah a liter.
The new prices will be applied to most parts of the country, including Java,
Bali, and Sumatra, starting today, the company said in the statement.
