There is no end for festivals in our Sanatana Dharma. The 11th month of our
Hindu calendar, Maagha Maasam starts tomorrow, Friday, February 4 and ends on
March 4th. Maagha is one of the famous months in Hinduism during which, Shiva,
Kesava, Surya and Saraswathi & others are adored and Magha snanam (sacred bath)
is the most important ritual performed in the sacred rivers especially by all
over sisters all over Bharat.

Magha masam is the 11th month in Hindu calendar and dedicated to Lord Shiva and
the most Important month for all Shiva Devotees. Magh Mahina is considered as
one of the auspicious months as per Hinduism because during this period, The
Goddess of Education and Learning – Goddess Saraswati Devi, the God of Health –
Surya Bhagawan and one of the Trimurti – Lord Shiva in Shivalinga form were
born.

Surya Bhagwan is worshipped during Magha month with shodashopachar puja and
deepa prajwalan (lighting lampos). Sun influences the physical health of the
mankind and general wellbeing of all. Hence this month, by worship of the Sun
God, one can help overcome one’s health issues. It is very Auspicious to read
"Aditya Hrudayam" everyday during this sacred Month.
