It was the year 1947 and Kanamma recalls "That night sitting in the courtyard of the old Mandir, Swami told us the importance of the Venugopala Swami temple next to the Old Mandir. He told us that Maharishi Valmiki had meditated in Puttaparthi. In the place where the Old Mandir stood, there was a forest full of Tulasi leaves. Swami revealed that Lord Narayana as a Rishi had meditated there. Referring to himself,he said that the same Rishi has reincarnated now". Subbamma had a plot of land where her husband had planned to build a temple for the poor, but had died before he could get it built. Thus it was agreed the land set aside for this could be given to Swami for his own use and the use of his devotees. A document writer was called and a deed of sale was drawn up. Next day, Kamalamma went to Bukkapatnam to have the deed registered.Swami went with her upto Chitravathi River. It was 25 July 1945. After the Old or Patha Mandiram was built Swami went from Kamalamma's house to the Mandir in a floral palanquin, between two idols of the two Avatar's..and the Procession went around the town. Also on that day, Bhagawan went to the rear of the building and placed his hand on the ground, Miraculously clean and Pure Fresh water sprung up, and Swami ordered a well to be blt on the spot. This was the only source of drinking water for the village. The well is in use to this very day..
