Hello and happy new year,
Thank you to the moderator for allowing me to join this group. My name is Nicki
and I subscribed a few weeks back. I've been lurking since then, trying to get
a feel for the tone of the discussion. As far as I can gauge, most of the
members here know each other very well , are locals or have very close contact
with Saligao matters and this is mostly a forum for community issues so I feel
just a little bit shy and quite the outsider but am jumping in with both feet.
:)
My grandfather, great-grandfather and their forebears were from Saligao and I
need some information on how to go about conducting genealogical research in
the area. I am too far away (Australia) to visit in person so would love to
know if there are any on-line searchable databases of Saligao families or if
contact details for accessing local archives or parish records.
My great-grandfather's family name was "Sequeira" and his wife's family name
was "de Sa". I have no idea if these are common family names or not but would
love to hear from anyone who knows might be familiar with them...
Cheers,
Nicki
