Hi there

I am in agreement with Merwyn. & to a certain extent, Kevin's mail. What more
recognition does Saligao need, it has been recognised by all from before our
time, & in the 1970's it was one of the most "forward" & "recognised" villages
in Bardez alongwith Aldona. But the mess started thereafter...I was still
around in the early 1980's ..so know that for sure.

As for calling Saligao or making it a "heritage village" I am not for it at
all. But then that is my opinion & feeling. All are entitled to their
opinions. What heritage? Saligao already has its own heritage...we just got
to recognise the same & I did that long ago. Once something is named
"heritage" or logged as that, then we wont have a say in anything, we will have
to get permission of some "Body" or the other (Government) & one knows exactly
how that will work!..... One gets "permission" easily through certain channels
for illegal construction etc. but when it comes to the crunch & for the good of
Saligao, rest assured your permission files will be sat upon for quite a while,
if not for years or until doomsday!

Have a good day & a good weekend!

Annette

Hi Ashley,

Frankly speaking, this is a waste of time if I understand it right. Saligao
should be just simply recognized as Saligao. If it had been left the way it is
since the 70's (read Ricky's email) then probably we could be proud of this so
called heritage village. It started deteriorating when Padmanab (next to Dilip)
built that monstrosity (God rest his soul) - his chai shop used to be one of
our hangouts!!!

Regards,

Merwyn Sequeira

Hi All.
thought i could take this discussion online. where we need as much of
inputs as possible.

1) How would u want saligao village to be recognised?

A - whats urs? initial inputs suggest that ALL wnat saligao to be
recognised as "a heritage village" do u agree? disagree? why? pls reply
to list with comments

2) the suggested FAR for the village is 60 FAR with a ground plus 2 as
maximum. meaning of a plot of 1000sq meters. the person will be allowed
to build on 200sq meters with 2 floors on top each of 200 sq meters to
make a total of 600 sq meters total habitable.

A - here there are major disagreements.. with almost ALL except the
builder lobby seeming to suggest that to retain the heritage structure
of the village, ONLY a ground plus one opion should be allowed. menaing
that of the same eg above.. the person will build an area of 300 sq
meters and have an additional 300 sq meters on the first floor.

in BOTH cases it has to be noted that the peron STILL gets his 600 sq
meters habitable area..

one argument for the ground plus 2 is that it is cheaper to build a
ground plus two as against a ground plus one. i am personally of the
opinion that this is negligible or non existent..

there are even inputs to lower the FAR to 50. whats ur take?

your comments are awaited.. hoping to see a discussion on this on this
group. villages, NRI'is people now residing in other villages... ur
inputs are needed.

regards
Ashley
