Hi Rico, It is amusing to read the several emails on 'The Friendly Cantare Virus' originated from Ashley and made very contaigous by Maxwell on Saligao Net. This is quite a change from news of the dreadful H1N1 virus.
Regarding the real H1N1 virus, folks in Goa or Saligao may not be that aware or concerned, but in Pune since the first death of a young 14 year old St.Anne's Convent student from an effluent family three weeks back and the galloping 2 to 3 deaths a day over the following days, till yesterday Pune has recorded 24 deaths (of total 60 in whole of India). Schools, colleges, movie theatres, shopping malls were shut down for two weeks. You will see 80% of the people moving around with masks. Netters will also be interested to note that churches in Pune have taken this very seriously. On the instructions of the Pune Bishop, all churches have stopped putting holy water in the containers at the church doors. People have been asked to receive holy communion via their hands and not on their tonges, etc. Also, at the end of every mass (Sundays and weekdays) at all churches, a special prayer is recited together with the priest (Prayer for Protection from H1N1). See attached or below. I feel this is not to scare people but make one aware of the reality one has to face, as most of us would say, ' Oh, these things happen to someone else'. My earnest prayer for now is that, may Saligao and Goa be protected from the H1N1 virus and also our family members and friends living elsewhere or aborad. Best regards, Lloyd P.S.
