Hi Amanda, Do you know which village(s) the Goa branch of your family came from? If you knew that, it would be easier to trace your links, via those who share the same surname in the same village.
Btw, I think a whole lot of writing on the Inqusition, now and in the past, is influenced by the "Black Legends" [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Black_Legend] that rival colonial powers built about each other. Authors like Priolkar (who came with their own ideological biases) and others who saw the Jews as victims of Iberian colonialism (which they were, but with many shades of grey) have also taken forward more "Black Legends" about the Inquisition.
