Dearest Patsy,

Thank you for your kind words of condolence and for keeping our family in your
thoughts and prayers. Your comforting message is helping us through this
difficult time. Yes, our families have many happy memories of shared good times
in Saligao and we remember your Mum and Dad, Aunty Phyllis and Uncle Eddie with
great affection.

Patsy, our congratulations to Kathy - I understand she graduated from high
school last summer. She is such a lovely and poised young lady. What is she
studying now?

Our very best wishes to you, Kathy and Fred.

Vimy, Frances, Carol, Yvette and Vanessa.

The Cordeiro family were very well known to us, particularly because my
sisters and I were all more or less the same age as Frances, Carol, Yvette, and
Vanessa.

The Cordeiros and the Saldanhas (my family), among many others, were well
known for their talent when it came to performances at the Saligao Institute.
I have very pleasant memories of the many hours of fun we would have at the
Cordeiro and Saldanha homes preparing for some of these social events. While A
Vimy and my mum (A. Phyllis) were usually at the helm where training was
concerned, Uncle Anselm and Uncle Eddie (my dad) played important roles too,
always there to lend a hand with the props and making valuable suggestions from
an 'audience' perspective.
Those were the days (my friend).......as the song goes! and I am so glad to
have so many happy memories of growing up in Saligao.

Uncle Anselm will undoubtedly be missed by many. Our heartfelt condolences
and prayers are with you, A Vimy, Frances, Carol, Yvette, and Vanessa, and your
families.

  Fred, Patsy, and Cathy

My condolences to the Cordeiro family! Uncle Anselm, as we knew him,
was a kindly senior citizen, who always greeted us with a smiling
face! As coincidences would go, when Mario and Muriel and Alice met up
with me a couple of days ago, outside the Saligao church, we were
remembering Aunty Vimmie and Uncle Anselm, and their involvement in
environmental campaigns in Goa in the 'eighties and early 'nineties!

                                      CORDEIRO, Anselmo passed away
peacefully on December 29, 2009 in the Palliative Unit, Nanaimo
General Hospital, after a long and courageous battle with leukemia.

He will be deeply missed by his
loving wife Vimy and his daughters Frances (C.Y.Wong), Carol, Yvette
and Vanessa (Sushil Peres-da-Silva) and his grandchildren, Shaun,
  Althea, Kate and Rhea.

                                      Anselmo was born in Dar-es-salaam,
Tanzania on April 21, 1925. He spent his childhood in Goa, India,
before pursuing a career in the oil industry, first in Abadan, Iran
and then in Tanzania, East Africa. For the last 15 years he had made
  his home in Nanaimo, Canada.

Anselmo will be remembered for his efforts in advocacy for social
justice in Goa. In Nanaimo, he was actively involved in the Marion and
Pro-life movements, with the Clay Tree Society and with the Knights of
Columbus. He will live on in the hearts of all those who knew and
  loved him.

A memorial service will be held at Trinity Catholic Church, 6234
Spartan Rd, Nanaimo on Sat, January 2, 2010 at 1.30pm followed by a
  Celebration of his Life.

The family would like to extend their special thanks to all their
friends and extended family for their caring, support and help through
his illness. We would also like to express our appreciation and
gratitude for the excellent care provided by those on his health care
team for their compassionate care and support.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Canadian Cancer Society
  or The Victoria Hospice Society.
