A "football ground" (even if it is a 'full fledged' one, whatever that is supposed to mean) might be welcome. But if someone wants to create a concrete monstrosity of shops and commercial establishments in the guise of it being a sporting facility in low-lying fields which are currently wetlands and storm water drains, I don't think that's too bright an idea...
Or, maybe it's too bright an idea on the part of someone! Btw, Albert's argument contradicts itself, when he says Saligao was the cradle of footballers in the past, and suggests we don't have enough good footballers now due to the lack of football grounds. Is that true? Did the footballers of the past grow up in stadia, or in the many fields (quite a few left fallow now unfortunately!) that abound in our village? In today's pattern of "development", plans are made simply because "funds" are available. So a playground (at LCHS) gets concretised, and footpaths (near Dilip's shop and Padmanabh's building) get fitted with floor tiles! Is this logical? Are our kids playing less because of a lack of space? I suspect it has more to do with a lack of leadership and coaches willing to volunteer their time. When the government despatched a coach, the kids started playing baseball (if I'm not wrong!) in the fields at Sonarbhat. FN PS: People disagreeing with your point of view doesn't necessarily make them "born philosophers" who necessarily need to be ridiculed. Any "development", if it is genuine and good, should get the acceptance of the locality where it is being set-up, I would think.
