14 people? in a taxi? Rico, would that be 14 skinny & weightless people (like myself in those days...not that I am any better now!) including the driver, piled on each other? ....then that I would believe as I dont recall any taxi having people on the roof. I remember travelling with 8 others including the driver. Very uncomfortable!
Yep the cycle repairs I do remember. I recall Louis wearing a turban but connect him with a Fancy Dress Competition (now that memory is hazy I guess)....who was the Chief Guest? Or was the Chief Guest part of the Fancy Dress Parade? Oops! Didnt I mention about Cantare being at Padmanabh's once Maurice took over his ancestral house? I did like the place & mentioned it in one of my postings.... originals used as in shell windows, old furniture & wood, etc. etc. I got a few good pictures then for my personal album. Louis, Rico,... would Maurice be comfortable with your suggestion? Me thinks he doesnt want too much advertisement & exposure, unless it is by word of mouth.....(as I had made by query) at least that is how I understood him in January but it is a while since then of course..... Perhaps you could both work on him using - persuasion, perseverance, pursuance. All the best! Did visit Lawrie's too & as Daniel did, it was to say hello (not to have a drink) & I did meet that evening a couple of Saliganvkars there whom I had not met in ages. Across the road from each other but both Outlets have much to offer I guess .... the old & the new, the traditional & the modern, the "village type" & the "city type" meeting place. Peaceful co-existence....I like it! Each has its own type of visitors & clients, (Saliganvkars & others) both proprietors are cool, calm & confident.... Does anyone remember the time Louis dressed as a Sikh (with a pale blue turban) and accompanied the chief guest to the Saligao Institute? Maybe 1980 or 1981... While ending the discussion, Louis mentioned that he had seen Cantare. His complaint: "But no one mentioned that it had been set up in the old Padmanabh's shop." Maybe that might have helped to imagine the location from afar! Louis also says he didn't see any photos of Cantare online.
