Yep, right you are Rico ...Donachem baim (vaddo well where anybody could take water from it especially if their home wells got dry in the hot season) where most youngsters learnt to swim during the rainy season when the water in the well reached the platform level- (not yours truly of course as thought of this as very unhygienic - swimming in a well)
& all the jollying & junketing on the feast of St. John (24th June) when anyone & everyone had to jump into the well. (if they were sure they would jolt up of course)....It was a sort of yearly ritual. I recall Orlando's sister Monica being the best at jumping into the well, very slim & straight (called the "suie" pose - needle) right from the top of the pillar where the pulley was fixed - it was a sight to behold! I think these are sights, today's Saligao youngsters wouldnt see in the normal course of things...their loss....we had fun even though some of us non-swimmers were just spectators....as one would say...those were the days..... Yeh Rico, we all should be careful of how we step or where we step, falls are dangerous for us all nowadays.....
