Please pass the word on to any Britto "old boy" you might know. We
look forward to making any of the Saligao old boys members too. All
alumni (and families), do make it if you can on Aug 11, 2012. FN

Subject: Britto's OBA: AGM, Whist Drive and QUIZ QUEST-4

Dear members of Britto's OBA and BOBs who would like to join in,

The Britto's OBA will mark the successful completion of six years of
its life [2006-2012] with a Thanksgiving Eucharistic Celebration at
6.00 P.M. followed by the Annual General body Meeting [AGM] at 7.15
P.M. and the traditional family Get together for members along with
the Jesuit community of St. Britto at Mapusa on Saturday 11 August,
2012.
6.00 P.M. Eucharistic Celebration at school chapel. [Coordinated by
BOB Charles D'Souza]
7.15 P.M. Members attend AGM, family members have games in school
hall. [Coordinated by President & Secretary]
8. 00 P.M. Common activity for members and families with Jesuit
community. [Coordinated by BOB Allwyn Vaz]
9.00 P.M. Fellowship dinner [Coordinated by BOB Roque Carvalho]
[Please reply to "Miguel Braganza" <[email protected]>, to
confirm participation and inform number of family members attending so
that the food catering is done accordingly]

We are happy that a large number of BOBs have joined as members of the
Britto's OBA over the past 12 months and invite those BOBs who are yet
to join, specially those residing in Goa, to show their "belonging"
and be a part of this alumni association Life membership is just
Rs.2,000/- and Student membership for up to 7 years after SSC is a
mere Rs.200/- ... and it entitles you to an annual fellowship dinner
with wife and children, free entry for self, partner and school-going
children to the Britto's OBA Xmas Ball [this year with A-26 and
Forefront in attendance] and a right to vote or be a candidate for
elections to the Managing Committee next year.

We have had one Britto's OBA subsidized family outing this year and
hope to have more in the coming years using the interest from the
"Corpus Fund" fixed deposits made of membership fees. The "Projects &
Activities" account has now been separated to ensure that funds raised
from community events go back to build the community and that funds
from members go back to the members who contribute their time and
skills to build the association and the school.

There will be a Whist Drive on Independence Day, 15 August, 2012. Look
up Allwyn Vaz on Face Book for updates.

The Britto's QUIZ QUEST-4 will be held on Saturday 08 September, 2012.
Incidentally, the Managing Committee met on 26 July, the feast day of
St. Anne, the grandmother of Jesus, and 08 Sept. happens to be the
feast of Mount Mary or Bandra fest. The annual Quiz Quest is for the
BOB Valerio Carvalho Memorial Rolling Trophy and is sponsored by his
wife, Queenie, and son BOB Roque Carvalho. Our Lady of Grace HS, Dona
Paula, is the defending champion with St. Anthony HS Monte de Guirim
as first runner-up and Fr. Agnelo HS, Pilar, as the second runner-up.
The Britto's Ivan Rocha Quiz Initiative [BIRQI] proposed by BOB
Frederick Noronha at the AGM last year is yet to convert from words to
action.

We look forward to the Ruby Anniversary celebrations of the 1975 batch
of SSC [New Course] being coordinated by BOB Louis D'Souza ["Boxer"]
from Saligao now based Down Under in Australia. It is for the
Christmas of 2014 but he has already set the ball rolling by enrolling
as a Patron Member of Britto's OBA and encouraging his classmates to
join in. Unfortunately, his classmate BOB Joseph Lobo aka "Charlton"
who would have loved to coordinate such an event, no more walks this
Earth. I will do it on his behalf. After all, Charlton was my student
mentor in High School and HSS. His BOB brothers, Jerome and Joaquim,
and son Brendon, are not yet members of the Britto's OBA. Non-member
BOBs are still the majority among the living and the dead. The latter
have no opportunity to enroll. We have no branches outside Mapusa.

The Sacred Heart High School, Parra, of which the Mapusa branch was
renamed as St. Britto HS when the management was taken over by the
Society of Jesus from Don Caetano Menezes [read "Transition
Stage:Sacre Heart to St. Britto HS" by BOB Bonifacio Carrasco, SSC of
1951; "My Old Sacred Heart and St. Britto HS Days" by BOB Jorge de
Abreu Noronha, SSC of 1951 ; and "Building a new St. Britto Campus" by
Fr. Ubaldo D'Sa as told to Mr. Narayan S. Bhadti in the BRITTO'S RETRO
book of student memories] celebrates its Centenary Year [1912-2012]
and will be organizing a Plant Show from 1 to 3 September, 2012. BOBs
are invited by the celebration committee to be a part of the
celebrations of the "Mother School" of St. Britto HS, Mapusa.

Mog asundi
