Diogo whistled this morning outside my home, just as I was getting up (and
you know, I don't wake up at dawn!). When I phoned him back, he said "The
CFLs have come."

CFLs, or compact fluorescent lamps, are considered to be energy saving. See
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compact_fluorescent_lamp

Apparently, anyone with a ration-card, can pick up upto 5 CFL bulbs, at a
subsidised price of Rs 50-something (a little over Rs 50 actually), when
the actual price is nearly double that. What you need to do is to go to the
Department of Science and Technology at the Saligao plateau WITH your
ration card and purchase the same at a subsidised rate.

Disclaimer: I don't know about quality and other issues, but this is based
on the info DIogo Fernandes gave me. Talk to him for more details on 988
167 1075. Good CFLs are lower on energy consumption and last fairly long.
But poor quality ones are a waste of mercury (I think)!
